Plants you can grow in an indoor garden

Indoor gardens can be used to grow many plants. Although vegetables such lettuce and tomatoes take longer time to grow, they are still possible to grow. Indoor gardening is slower than outdoor gardening. Get your plants 14 to 20 hours light each day to encourage growth. To increase the humidity in the air, you can also use grow lamps or a cool mist humidifier.

Root crops can also be grown indoors. They can be grown in pots that have soil but will require additional lighting. They require light to thrive and produce flavor and color. Some plants can still be grown indoors in spite of the limited amount of sunlight. Plants that can grow in containers or in soil less than 10 cm should be considered. Try to avoid over-fertilizing them because this will lead to spindly roots and lush green leaves. Chantenay is a shorter variety.

A mixture of indoor and garden soil could result in a very watery soil which can be harmful to plants. Also, plants that are planted in heavier soils will not develop the right root system. A soil should have a balanced pH and contain regular nutrients.

The soil should be suitable for indoor gardening. Topsoil is a good example. It can harbor bugs, seeds and pathogens which could cause damage to your plants. How To

Organic fertilizers for garden use

Organic fertilizers are made from natural substances such as manure, compost, fish emulsion, seaweed extract, guano, and blood meal. Non-synthetic materials are used in the production of organic fertilizers. Synthetic fertilizers are chemical compounds used in industrial processes. These fertilizers are commonly used in agriculture, as they can provide nutrients to plants quickly without the need for complicated preparation. Synthetic fertilizers can pose risks to the environment and human health. These fertilizers also require high amounts of energy, water and time to make. Runoff from synthetic fertilizers can also pollute groundwater and surface water. This pollution can be harmful for both wildlife and humans.

There are many organic fertilizers available:

* Manure is a product of livestock eating nitrogen-rich food (a plant nutrient). It is made up of bacteria and enzymes, which break down the waste into simpler compounds that can be absorbed easily by plants.

* Compost: A mixture of animal manure, grass clippings (decomposing leaves), vegetable scraps (vegetable scraps) and grass clippings (grass clippings). It is rich for nitrogen, carbon, potassium and magnesium. It is porous so it retains moisture well and releases nutrients slowly.

* Fish Emulsion - a liquid product derived from fish oil. It works similarly to soap in that it dissolves oils and fats. It has trace elements such as phosphorous, nitrogen and nitrate.

* Seaweed Extract – A concentrated solution containing minerals extracted from kelp. It is a good source of vitamins A, C, iron, and iodine.

* Guano is the excrement of seabirds and bats. It contains nitrogen and phosphorous, potassium as well sulfate, salt, chloride, carbon, sodium, magnesium and other minerals.

* Blood Meal is the meat and bones of animals that have been slaughtered. It is rich in protein which is useful for feeding birds and other animals. It also contains trace minerals, phosphorus and potassium.

Mix equal amounts of compost, manure, and/or fish oil to make organic fertilizer. Mix thoroughly. You can substitute one with another if you don't have access to all three ingredients. If you have only access to the fish oil emulsion, then you can combine 1 part fish emulsion and 2 parts compost.

To apply the fertilizer, spread it evenly over the soil using a shovel or tiller. You should spread about one quarter cup of the fertilizer per square foot. You will need to add more fertilizer every two weeks until you see signs of new growth.
